SCHOLARSHIPS

The Oscar & Mabel Preidel Memorial Scholarship

Faith United Methodist Church is honored to offer the Oscar & Mabel Preidel Memorial Scholarship to support the educational goals of our young members.

At the request of the contributor, please carefully review the following guidelines before applying.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a member of Faith United Methodist Church for at least 2 years
  • Be active within Faith United Methodist Church for at least 1 year
    • This includes (but is not limited to): regular attendance, volunteering in worship, greeting, assisting with Sunday School, or other church involvement
  • Be 25 years of age or younger
  • Be attending one of the following institutions:
    • Western Technical College
    • Viterbo University
    • University of Wisconsin–La Crosse
  • Be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student
  • Maintain continuous student status (no gaps) if reapplying in future years

Students may apply each new school year until graduation, provided eligibility requirements continue to be met.

Transcript Requirements

Please submit the following with your application:

  • Current high school students or graduates must provide an official high school transcript
  • If you completed a GED or alternative diploma program, please submit proof of completion

Scholarship Availability

  • The number and size of scholarships awarded may vary each year
  • Criteria may also vary from year to year
  • Recipients must provide proof of registration (full- or part-time) at their institution

Application Deadline

All application materials must be received by:

Tuesday, May 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM (Noon)

Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

Thank You Letter Requirement

Recipients are required to send a thank you letter to:

The letter may include:

  • Appreciation for the award
  • How the scholarship will assist you
  • Your educational and career goals

Please note:

  • Scholarship funds will not be disbursed until the thank you letter is received
  • The scholarship office will forward thank you letters to the donor
